General Information and Description about Messonghi Corfu
Messongi resort located twenty kilometres South from Corfu Town (Kerkyra). MESSONGHI is a Traditional Greek village built on a rise on the east coast of Corfu island. The main road to Lefkimmi and Kavos passes through here, and,in the area of Benitses, Moraitika, northwards, this road runs along the coast, separated from the sea only by a narrow strip of sandy beaches and rocks. At every point you will find beaches with warm water, ideal for bathing, and plenty of tourist services. There you can find small secluded bays to a long beautiful sandy beach. During the day the life revolves around the beaches and the water sports and then as night falls the whole resort is one big party. You can find from small typical Greek tavernas serving traditional dishes to luxury restaurants which serve a variety of menus. The many Bars and discos play any music you wish to hear, from golden oldies to the latest hits. People are friendly and most of them English speaking. We recommed hiring a car. You will find many hirer places on the main road with good prices. From Messonghi river there are boats that making daily boatrips to the north and south coast of the island, to Paxos island and to the mainland Greece visiting unique sandy beaches, caves and the famous blue lagoon. Messonghi beach is sandy and the water is clean, calm and deepens gradually - ideal for snorkeling. You will find showers on the beach and plenty resaurants and tavernas where you can have a refreshing drink, having lunch or use the toilets. Water sports such as ringos , banana boat, skying, paragliding and padal boats are also available on the beach.
